The level of ICT usage in Somalia is low, but with clear development potentials associated with the presence of several telecom companies and Internet cafes. 

However, technology penetration has been  growing in the country for the last 16 years. In this connection, SICTDA is currently conducting a research on how technology has changed the lives of many Somalis and the future prospects. 

SICTDA will support academic institutions in building research capacities and enhancing diffusion of knowledge and assist administrations in the development of ICT policies and strategies, and the formulation of a telecom law and a regulatory body.
