Somali ICT Development Association (SICTDA) is a non-governmental,
non-profit association that represents a number of
companies and organizations that are involved in
ICT business and development.
SICTDA aims at making Information and Communications Technologies (ICT)
and its education accessible to all Somalis and
generally promoting ICT application in all aspects
of life to accelerate development.
Overview of Somalia's ICT
Sector
Despite instability in some parts of the country,
Somali has a growing and competitive Information
and Communication Technology (ICT) sector which is
completely under the control of the private
sector.
The country has internet connectivity to almost
53% of the whole area of the country and the
Internet business is mushrooming in the country
and becoming one of the fastest growing services
along with telephony.
By
the end of 2005 there were more than 0.5 million
users of Internet services in the country with 22
established ISP and 234 cyber cafes with growth of
15.6% per year.
